We bring a crafted and inspired approach to every project we work on, which is why our clients love us and why they keep coming back.
Ducks, Oregonians, Dreamers
We loved the idea of being part of a new industry and a new family of friends, and, more actual family. We’ve sowed oats, raised families, travelled, built companies, and supported our community. So we’ve started a new chapter in our story.
Our mission is to deliver premium cannabis to the legal market. But we’re here for the love – the investors who believe in us and what we are building, the family and friends who want to be a part of it. The young people who see the future and sustain us with their energy, hard work, and enthusiasm for building something of shared value.
The Aficionado, Coach, Believer
To hell with facts! We need stories. – Ken Kesey
Gary was a student-athlete in Eugene and a long way from LA sunshine. It wasn’t the 60s, but the Merry Pranksters were still kicking ass at the Kesey farm. During his times at the farm, he rubbed elbows with influential artists, poets, and writers who taught him the power of cannabis to spark creativity, release anxiety, and express love.
He became a storyteller as a video and film practitioner in the fast growing world of digital arts. He spent time with his boys and their friends, coaching sports teams, and teaching the importance of education, hard work, respectful manners, kindness, and integrity.
Then cancer came knocking and he learned the power of cannabis to heal. He found that access to medical marijuana was the only thing that softened the violent blows of nausea and appetite loss so he could withstand the treatments. He researched how cannabis was being developed for new and more effective treatments of many types of physical conditions. He thought everybody deserves to have the benefits that come from cannabis.
As legalization efforts in Oregon grew stronger, he decided that there was a role he might mark out for himself. He learned everything he could about new and effective applications for the science and chemistry of cannabis products and listened to anybody who would talk to him about their experience growing and using cannabis to treat health problems. To turn his passion into a business, he’d need partners to complement his skills in leadership and marketing.
Marble Collector, Seeker of Truth
The long, wet winters of a Tillamook seaside childhood provide time and space to plot and plan. After setting the state record for the lowest number of points in a four year high school basketball effort, Ron went over the mountain to graduate from Oregon’s J School, where he was the editor of the UO Daily Emerald and organizer of campus politics. He used that Energizer Bunny approach to elect a Portland mayor, stop a freeway, start a transit system, and found the Willamette Week newspaper.
Not satisfied with just writing about the state he loves, he took a turn pushing sneaker sales and progressive candidates, hosting multiple campaign house coffees every election season without ever drinking a single cup. Always a teetotaler, Ron’s interest in legalizing cannabis was motivated by the opportunity to participate in the decriminalization of pot and convert that lost productivity to new revenue sources that can be used for education, transportation, and generally improving the life of every Oregonian.
Gary and Ron met to shout at the Duck defense and discuss what it might take to get into the newly legalized cannabis industry in Oregon. Gary knew some experienced growers and buyers, Ron knew how to push paper and regulations. But good things come in threes.
Couve Legend, Teacher, Golfer
Athletics were at the center of a mid-century suburban childhood that led to high school standout performances at state championships in football, basketball, and baseball. A scholarship to the University of Oregon meant he was just a couple hours’ drive from family dinners and summer jobs in his father’s excavation business. But the times were a changin’, and he spent the Summer of Love in Marine officer training camp. The rigors of Quantico produced an injury that kept him off of the deployment roster but didn’t dampen his awakened interest in the politics of the time.
He would teach social studies and civics to students in Portland and get involved in efforts of school desegregation and community development. Time on the golf course and sailing regattas replaced team sports and nurtured an extended network of friends and work focused on urban development and business management.
Gary and Ron met with Mike to yell at the Duck defense and revel in Rose Bowl afterglow. They settled on a business plan for indoor growing of carefully curated and crafted Oregonic chronic™.
Florida Escapee, Musician, Soil Scientist
His father was a barber in Cleveland who met his mother when she sat in his chair and demanded a practical haircut. They moved to Florida and Adam attended an elite prep school that taught him skills in research and applied learning. His musical talent took him to a New York music school and he pursued an eclectic repertoire as performer and producer. But he wanted to put earth first and for that, he needed to head west.
A spell in the Colorado Rockies with like-minded folks gave him direction for his passion to honor the connections between the smallest organism and the seventh generation. He had consumed cannabis since a teenager and went to work at a small farm that grew medical marijuana. He started to learn the secrets of the soil and how fine tuning could produce better results for each patient.
Then he moved to the belly of the beast – Humboldt County, CA. In the shadow of the Great Redwoods he spent a decade working, learning, thinking, brewing the perfect compost to produce the best tasting cannabis. Love brought him to Oregon; the opportunity to perfect the symbioses of microbes with sustainable growing practices – to deliver unity through diversity – well, that made him a natural addition to the Dank Bros. family.
